Turkeys?

Hey Mom,

I had a pretty good week this week. We had a zone conference on Thursday where a member of the presiding seventy came and spoke with us. It was really cool. He talked a lot about how we need to really truly understand who God is for ourselves, and gain that testimony that God is our Father in Heaven, and has a body of flesh and bone, and is a real tangible person. We also need to know and understand that Jesus Christ, His son, also died and was resurrected, so he as well has that body of flesh and bone. Really such an awesome experience.

I hear a lot about Florida these days... Every time I say that I'm from Orlando, people either bring up that mass shooting, or the kid that got attacked by an alligator at Disney. Things need to stop happening in Florida! This is crazy!

Anyway, we received a referral from some sisters that are serving in the YSA, so hopefully we can start teaching this person soon! We have one investigator, who is super old and living in an assistant living place, but she came to church! We are trying to help her stop smoking as well. We also have a lesson set up with a young school teacher. She was in our former investigator list, but I guess she was too busy with school in to meet with missionaries, but now she is done teaching for the year she said we could meet to go over some questions about what she was taught in the past.

Not much else has happened this week. I do want to have a special thanks to Dad. I was so thankful to have an opportunity yesterday to think about dad and the example he has set for me. There are not many people in this world that I aspire to be like, but if I can be half the man my father is, I would consider my life a success.

In closing, I do want to talk about a scripture that has been stuck in head. It is my favorite scripture. Mosiah 3:19 states

For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

As I become closer to God, I have realized that I need to put off the "natural man." I have come to realize that it doesn't matter if I'm sore, or tired, or whatever I'm feeling inside, I am here to serve God and those around me. I am becoming more pleasant in my day to day as I set aside the worldly things, and yield to the Holy Spirit. I invite all to read this scripture, and ponder how they can "put off their natural man" and yield to the spirit, because I promise that true happiness is found that way.

Thank you all for the support and the prayers. It truly is a blessing to have such a support there.

Love,
Elder Snyder

Bracken responded a lot of my email. I talked about our Youth Conference we just had, Seminary Graduation and how excited Kyle was to get on his mission and the Orlando Shooting. I also asked him what he wanted me to slip in his 4th of July package...I should have known he wanted cheezits and oreos!
Enjoy everyone. Love you all!

Hey Mom!

I bet! That sounds like so much fun! I love Elise, she is so awesome! Future Sister Missionary? I think so! Hahaha :)

I know Kyle will do well on his mission. He will love it.

I'm glad youth conference was awesome! I wish I could've gone!! Hahaha!

I've heard, it is super sad. I was sad to hear that something like that could happen :( I hope that victims are okay, and recover soon.

My week was super slow! We tracted and tracted, but no one wants to talk to us. We did have interviews with president on Thursday, it was super awesome!

The weather here has been great! Super cool and the allergies have calmed down a little bit, so I'm pretty happy! Hahaha
I've learned so much this week, about how the scriptures apply in our lives. The more we read, and focus on the messages of the words of the scriptures, the more we feel the spirit in our life. I am so thankful for the scriptures in my life, and being able to turn to them in times of need.

4th of July packages.... Hmmm, I like cheezeits, Oreos, just some good snacks! Hahaha!! Oh, the insurance card!

Love you!

June 6th E-mail...sorry no pics though :( I'll post his countdown block with Elise from the week before. It's super cute!

Hey everyone!
Not much has happened since Thursday! We did have stake conference
this weekend, it was so amazing!! Elder Dube from the presiding 70
came and spoke to us, he was so amazing!! He is from Zimbabwe, and he
shared his conversion story, which was super awesome, but the coolest
part was hearing his testimony of Jesus Christ and how Jesus went
through the atonement for us to be able to live with God again. I also
appreciated how he testified of our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and
also of the twelve Apostles we have on the earth today. It was so
amazing to hear from someone who works first hand with them.
Anyway, other than that, we are still trying to find more people to
teach. We had a zone blitz in our area on Saturday, which is when all
the missionaries in a zone go to a specific area inside the zone to
help find people. We got a couple potential investigators, but no
solid teaching opportunities. Elder Cook and I sat down with our ward
mission leader and the bishop, and were stressing the importance of
member missionary work, and how this area will not grow unless we have
the help and support of the ward. We also talked about ways that we
could build trust of the members and how to motivate them. We're
hoping that we can continue to work with them and start to pick up
this area.
We're not doing much today, we have cleaned our apartment and went
shopping this morning, and I am planning on getting a haircut today at
some point.
I know that Christ lives. I know that the Book of Mormon is another
testament of Jesus Christ, and that inside its pages, we learn how to
grow closer to our Father in heaven. If you have not read this book,
or haven't read it in a while, I invite you to read it, ponder the
message it contains, and then ask God in the name of Christ if it is
true. I know, without a doubt in my mind, if you do this, that God
will give you an answer, and you will know for an assuredly that the
book is true, and that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the
world.
I hope that this week is fantastic, and I love all of you!

P-Day last week was on June 2nd

Hey Everyone!
Sorry about not writing on Monday, my pday is today, because I'm going
to go to the Portland temple!!! I am so excited!
Not much happened this week. My new companion, Elder Cook, and I have
been working extremely hard. The weather here has been getting warm,
and it is getting real sunny! I'm happy, because it is warm and sunny,
but it is now getting hard to ride bikes because of how hot it is!
Hahahahaha!
All the people we've been teaching has dropped us. We are trying to
find more people. Our schedule consists of hours of Tracting and
finding. We hope and pray for people, and know we can find them!
I am getting hit hard by allergies. This month should be the worst of
the year. The grass seed count gets so high, my nose and eyes get so
itchy, but I'm happy for allergy medicine!
I'll take pictures today and send you them on Monday!
I have a testimony of hard work. I have come to find out that God
loves it when we work hard. In the doctrine and covenants section 58
it says

"26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things;
for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not
a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.

27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and
do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much
righteousness;

28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves.
And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.

29 But he that doeth not anything until he is commanded, and
receiveth a commandment with doubtful heart, and keepeth it with
slothfulness, the same is damned."
This scripture really stood out to me. I know that if I need to wait
to be told to do something, I am being slothful, but need to be doing
good things of my own free will, and I know God will help me more than
if I wait. I know God lives, and loves us. He wants us to be happy.

Love you all!
