4 Months Out!

Hey Mom!
It sounds like you're having a great week! I'm so sad to hear the Holtoms are moving!! They were such good friends! Hopefully Elise will stay in contact with them!
We did have a good week! We had a few member present lessons and found 3 new investigators! Hopefully we can have more people that want to talk about the gospel!
I'm glad dad made it home safe! It is always a little scary with him traveling abroad.

Good to hear that Grandma is doing better, I have been worried about her. Nothing too exciting happened this week, other than blackberries are in season!! We have picked so many of them just walking around! We made blackberry pancakes for breakfast on Sunday. It was so good! They are such a great snack while walking around as well. Oh, we had dinner at the Becks last nigh, and they fed us Hawaiian Haystacks!! It was so good! The last time I remember having those were at Jason's 16th birthday party! Ahhahaha

I have been thinking about how fast the time has been flying. I've been out for over 4 months now, but it feels like I just got here! I have decided that I want to make every moment count. I know the Lord will help me as I put forth all my efforts.

I have also been thinking about forgiveness. In Elders Quorum, we discussed a conference talk called The Healing Ointment of Forgiveness By Elder Kevin R. Duncan. It made me think about how forgiveness can lead to such peace in life. No wonder God directs us forgive because it feels amazing to forgive!

I love you!

I gave Bracken a hard time about just sending me a picture of his hand and only blackberries so he sent me a quick selfie with his zone leader. :) I love and miss that boy's smile!

Two weeks in one!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I didn't get Bracken's e-mails up before now. We made it home last night from London and I'm trying to get everything caught up. Looks like Bracken is doing well and had fun helping at the Olympic Trials and the Nashville Tribute Concert and has people to teach finally! Hooray!! Thank you all for your prayers and support! Much love to you all!

July 11th:

That is so fun!!! Yes, we already did get our free slurpees!! Glad grandma made it through the first part. I'm praying for her. I told Bracken about Jason and Nicole's cruise and how they went to Blue Hole in Jamaica like we did last November and also that we got free slurpees and I had a coke one in his honor. I also told him how Grandma Featherstone's health problems.

This last week has been so fun! We went and volunteered at the Olympic trials, and we got a bunch of free stuff for doing so. Namely a hat, tshirt, water bottle and a sweet jacket, all Nike brand. We helped screen bags and such, I felt as if I was a TSA member!! Ahhahaha!!

Other than that, our week has been slow. We tried to teach, but everyone canceled on us. Hopefully we will find more people this week!
I've been thinking about faith this week. In james 2 it says
"17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works"

I think that God will help me find find, but I need to show my faith by going out and doing all I can do.

Love you mom!!

My week,
I have a funny story too, Marty's companion is in my zone!! I have been talking to him about Marty and realizing how much I miss him! I told Bracken that he might meet up with this young man and he did! Small world! This young man was sent home and is now allowed to return to his mission. He was sent to Bracken's mission for a 12 week trial period then if they okay it he can return to the Spain mission. This Elder was companions with Bracken's good friend Elder Marty Smithson.

Anyway, my week has been Great!! It was super slow at the begging of the week because my companion had leadership meetings because he is District Leader, so they had me go to different areas to wait on their meetings to be over.

But on Saturday, we had two solid lessons with some investigators, and set up a lesson with two others for this week. If all works out, we will get a few lessons this week!! I'm super excited!!

Also, on Saturday, we were able to go to a Nashville Tribute concert!! It was tons of fun!! On Sunday, we had two investigators at church!! Both are interested and have set up return appointments for this week! I definitely am feeling all the prayers from everyone!!

This week with the little more success I'm having, I am reminded of something that Ammon says in Alma 26,

" 11 But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God.

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."

I know that my own efforts are nothing without the strength of the Lord helping me. The Lord has been preparing these people for us to meet, and I know that I need to give him all the credit.

I know that this is the true and living Gospel, I know that God lives and loves all his children.

Love,
Elder Snyder

Week 89

We love counting down! Hit the 80's this week! :) Elise is so good to remember the countdown and does it faithfully every Wednesday. Do you think she misses her brother? I think yes.

Happy 4th!!

Hi Mom,

This week has been great!!
Nothing is changing this transfer. We both are staying in Eugene, so I'll get to stay for 4 and 1/2 months here!

We taught one lesson last week, and have 2 set up for this week. I am excited because I am officially finished training! I am a normal missionary!

This week we tracted a lot, so hopefully next week won't be so slow.

Nothing much else has happened. Yes, I got the package and thank you so much for the notes and the food and the frisbee!!! I am so excited to use it today!

Today is going to be super easy.  At 7:00, we have to be inside, so we will go to dinner at 6:00, then go inside after that.

In conclusion, I'd like to share a scripture. In 2 Nephi chapter 9 it says

28 O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.

29 But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God.

I have realized as I learn more, I tend to go on my own knowledge. As I turn more to God,  I know I will be blessed. I know that Christ lives. I know he loves us. I know he wants what is best.

I love you!!

Hi Mom!

That is good! Thanks for sending the package and the inclusion of the part about Panda made me really happy. Thanks for sharing that :)

I'm glad that you're having fun with uncle Joe and his family and aunt Audie and her family! They are so fun:)

Anyway, my week has been kinda slow. Our only investigator, an 80 year old in an assisted living home, decided she hates us and likes the YSA Ward better so we are trying to correlate with the YSA elders to figure this out. I'm not sure why she is at YSA, but oh well. I don't know that she understands that YSA is still a Mormon church, but I don't even know what is going on. A challenge for this week! Hahaha

All our potentials have stood us up for lessons, so our plans were dashed. But we did talk to a former investigator who said we can come back tomorrow, so hopefully it'll work out.

I also went on an exchange this week with Elder West to Veneta. We taught a lesson while there, so I did have a fun time.
We also did service at special olympics. We were officiating their games. It was so much fun! We also went and hiked Spencer's butte. It was great!!

I did come across a powerful scripture this week that I want to share. It is in the Doctrine and Covenants Section 121

36 That the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven, and that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness.

37 That they may be conferred upon us, it is true; but when we undertake to cover our sins, or to gratify our pride, our vain ambition, or to exercise control or dominion or compulsion upon the souls of the children of men, in any degree of unrighteousness, behold, the heavens withdraw themselves; the Spirit of the Lord is grieved; and when it is withdrawn, Amen to the priesthood or the authority of that man.

My thoughts on this scripture are that if a man lives contrary to God, he loses his priesthood and authority. I have been striving to live more worthy of the priesthood I have. I have found as I forget myself and work for the benefit of others, the more I can feel the priesthood in my life.

I love you! I hope that everyone has a great week!
