That Kid Loves His Wendy's!

I forgot to add this picture he sent me later in the day yesterday. He's such a goofball and still loves Wendy's! He and his comp went there on Friday. Hopefully he got some exercise in as I know what he eats when he goes there.

Picture from a Text Message

I got a cute text message last week that said "I ran into your cute Elder today in Florence. Hope this gives you a smile!" I love that people would take the time to send a picture of my boy. It seems to happen when I'm missing that kid a ton. Coincidence? I think not! Makes me grateful and happy to know that God is aware. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. I hope you all truly know how much it means to me. Love you all!

New Shoes

Hi Mom!
Sounds like you've had a fun week!!
It is funny, I ended up giving a talk in sacrament meeting too! (I told him Deryl spoke in church on Sunday) It was a last minute thing, but I think I did alright. I'm glad you got the picture! Florence is a more touristy part of the county, kinda like those neat small towns in North Carolina and such that we've visited, and we've ran into a few members there. it is loads of fun!
Im glad she is taking her calling seriously. No doubt in my mind that she is a great leader, and one day I see her as a sister missionary. (I mentioned Elise's new church calling and what she's been doing so far)
anyway, we had a great week! we had interviews with President, and that went super well. I did get my new shoes, I got a nice pair of skechers from ross for like 30 dollars, then I decided for service shoes to get some work boots at walmart for 25 dollars or so. I'm glad I found such nice deals and didn't have to spend so much money!
We found a new investigator this week! he owns a Mexican restaurant in town, and already gave us a free meal! we also got an investigator on date for baptism! it has been such a great week!!
I don't have much else going on, other than we went to the beach to see the sunset! it was so pretty! I'll attach the pictures!
This week I've had the wonderful opportunity to read a talk given in 1978 called "no time for contention" and there is a quote that really stood out to me, it says
"We have no time for contention, We only have time to be about our Father's business"
I think of all the times people come up to us to bash or to yell at us as missionaries, but we have no time for that. Nothing good ever comes out of contention, as we read in the 3 Nephi 11:29 that "he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil"
I'm trying to avoid all sources of contention and be a more pleasant person to be around, and I know that will invite the spirit more and more into my life.
I love you! have a great week!

Adventures in Florence, Oregon

Hey Mom!
OMGSH IM SO EXCITED FOR ANDREW!!! (We told Bracken we went to see his friend Andrew open his mission call Sunday night). That makes me so extremely happy!!

This week has flown by! We don't have many investors in this area, but there is a ton of potential investigators and a whole lot of formers we can go contact. It is kinda hard being with a missionary that is going home though, he talks about it every day and it is kinda annoying. Hopefully next transfer I'm not with someone so checked out as my companion is now. Other than the fact Elder Scott is going home, I love him. He is a great missionary and I'm glad I get to serve with him.

So this week we did some service with Habitat for Humanity digging trenches for an electrical conduit, and my sport shoe got ripped by a root. They got soaked the next day doing service pressure washing. Luckily we're going down to Coos Bay for interviews on Friday so we're going to stop there so I can hopefully pick up some new shoes. Being a missionary is tons of fun sometimes! Ahhahaha :P

This week I've been thinking about a scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants, section 6. It says

"36 Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."

I've learned that the happiest moments are when I'm looking to Christ in every thought. My doubts and fears seem to float away and I can deal with the issues at hand.

Thank you for figuring out the GPS thing, and I'll be sure to tell Jason thanks! I love you mom!
Oh, if there is any chance we still have the nerf revolver pistol and darts.... That could be very fun. I'm not sure if we gave those away or not. If not, I'm sure I'll come across some dart guns eventually! (I told him the guns went to a good home and that maybe Santa would bring him some new ones).

Thanks for everything you do mom, I'm glad you had fun at Disney! (I told him I got to sneak off to Disney for a day with Kristin).

Love, Elder Snyder
Love that smile!

Transferred to Florence, Oregon

Hey Mom!
It sounds like you've had a crazy week! It sounds like it's been tons of fun though!!

I have some great news, I'm on the coast now!! I got transferred to Florence, it is a smaller town strait west of Eugene. The weather here is AMAZING!!! It is in the 60s for the high here! Not to mention I'm in a full car area! My new companion is Elder Scott. He is from Wyoming and he goes home after this transfer so I'm his last companion.

Other than that, I'm doing alright. Elder Cook and I went and took pictures on Saturday and the went to lunch at a place that serves really good fish and chips for super cheap.

Anything in a package.... A GPS would be nice but I was going to wait until Christmas to ask for one. Maybe if you spent money out of my account to update the one we have and send that to me? If not, that's okay.

I'm trying to not eat junk food, but if you would like to send granola bars or crackers I would love that.

I am actually thinking about sending a package home. I have gathered a rather large number of tshirts from the different services we've done so I'll send those off to ya. I also have an extra bedsheets set that I'd like to have when I get home so I'll send that home as well.

Well, I don't have much else going on at the moment, transfers are pretty crazy! I'll let you know how great Florence is next week!
Love you!! Elder Snyder

Learning Skills

Hey Mom!
That sounds like so fun! Hahaha, I've known about being an uncle for a few weeks now, Jason told me! I'm so excited!! It is going to be such a fun time! Are you sure you're ready to be a grandma??

This week has flown by! I feel like I just wrote home but it's already been a week!!! This week has had some hardships though... Jaime, one of our investigators dropped us. It is hard to see that happen, but when he is ready, he'll be ready. We had an amazing lesson last night, and it was fantastic. We met with Juris and Stan, and we went over all the commandments, and it surprisingly went well! They are praying for a baptism date. We also started to teach a 15 year old who's grandpa is a member and he wants to be baptized! It is so exciting!

This week, Elder Cook and I decided to try out a new finding idea, so we decided to draw the Plan of Salvation for everyone in chalk at a park in our area. It was so fun! While doing it, so many people walked by and were really taking a good look at it. Hopefully it sparks some interest in the people of this area.

I also tried something new this week, and I gave myself a haircut.... And it went surprisingly well!! Elder Cook has a razor and stuff so he let me borrow it. We're going to go to Ross and Walmart today, so I'm going to look for my own razor so I can do my hair my whole mission. I figure 20-30 dollars once is better than 15 dollars to get it cut every month. It will also be a nice skill to have for when I get home and off living on my own.

We hiked Spencer's Butte again today! It is so pretty up there! It is a super good hike for some exercise as well!

This week I was thinking about a scripture in 1 Nephi 6, which says
"4 For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved."

This is Nephi explaining his purpose. I want to and have been trying to make this my one only purpose while on my mission, and to have this as a purpose for when I get home as well.

I hope everyone's week goes by quickly and safely! Have fun at Jason's and Nicole's graduation!

Service

Hey Everyone!

This week has been awesome! On Tuesday we had a lesson with Juris and
Stan, two of our investigators. It was great! On Wednesday we went
with the Zone Leaders to help the sisters in Creswell do service at a
farm. I had to cut down blackberry bushes.... Not fun! They are the
most thorny, pokey plants I have every tried to tackle.... I thought
those palm trees out front of our house were bad!! We had a super good lunch there,
and got to see a cow give birth. It was so fun!

We then had an exchange with the zone leaders. I went to the YSA with
Elder Etherington. I had so much fun! The only thing I didn't like was
the YSA apartment doesn't air conditioning, so it was so warm! At
night, we had all the windows opened, and it didn't cool down in the
apartment until 4 or so in the morning. On Thursday I went with Elder
Etherington to help at a food pantry. After that we went to exchange
back. Elder Cook and I then had a lesson at Jaime's, and it was
fantastic! On Friday we had Specialized Training. I learned a ton and
had a great time. On Saturday we did some finding all day, but nothing
developed because of it. Sunday was great! We went to church and we
had an investigator there, then we had a lesson at Juris and Stan's
house again. It was great!

Today we are stuck here in 5th ward so we aren't doing much. We had to
clean this morning, then we had to ride our bikes to Walmart to shop.
This week, I came across a scripture about obedience that I have been
thinking about. In Jacob 5:72, it says

"72 And it came to pass that the servants did go and labor with their
mights; and the Lord of the vineyard labored also with them; and they
did obey the commandments of the Lord of the vineyard in all things."

I like to liken that unto the work I'm doing here on the mission. I
need to be like those servants, and work with all my might with the
Lord, and obey the commandments that God has given me, and I know that
he will be with me in this labor.

I love you all!
